AIRSPEED CAMP ESSENTIAL DETAILS

Registration/Payment:
You must register on the tunnelcamp.com website to reserve a slot and you must pay in full for the price of the tunnel camp prior to the date the camp begins. Payment for "extra" time must be made when that time is scheduled.

Food:
Lunch and beverages are provided on camp days. If you would like to bring snacks to share or for yourself, there is a refrigerator at the tunnel where you may store these items.

Physical Fitness:
Tunnel flying is more intense than skydiving and many tunnel campers experience muscle soreness. Please be sure to stretch thoroughly each day of the camp, and you might want to bring your favorite brand of aspirin or ibuprofen.

Emotional Fitness:
Tunnel flying can be very exposing, and even experienced skydivers react with a wide range of emotions during their initial tunnel training experience. Some have coined the term "tunnel rage" to describe this feeling. Please be prepared to enjoy whatever experience you have, and do not pressure yourself to fly like the coaches or other campers. This is your own experience and everyone learns at his or her own pace.

Camps at SkyVenture Orlando

Schedule:
The camp starts at 6:30am each day . Be in the classroom trailer behind the main office ready to go at start time. The camp ends at 5:00pm every day but we have activities - lectures, happy hours, and group trips to the "Skycoaster" - scheduled for each evening.

Equipment:
Bring a jumpsuit (several if have them), gloves, helmet, weights (if you wear them). A full face helmet is recommended. If  you chose to wear an open faced helmet, please bring clear goggles. If your helmet has velcro please make sure that it is fresh and that it operates properly. Please also make sure your jumpsuit is in good condition. Nothing is as frustrating as equipment problems getting in the way of performance.

Please also bring comfortable shoes - running shoes or tennis shoes are best. No bare feet or sandals are allowed in the tunnel. We will provide the video tape on which to record your tunnel time.

Camps at Perris SkyVenture

Schedule:
Tunnel camps begin at 7:00 and will conclude by 6:00 p.m. ("extra" time notwithstanding). Please be prompt, and meet in the observation area of the wind tunnel for the briefing, even if you are an experienced camper! Tunnel flights, preparation, and debriefs will take the entire day so please plan accordingly.

Travel:
The nearest international airport is in Ontario (40 min’s) , though some may choose to fly into San Diego (1.5 hrs) or LAX (2 hrs). You will either need a ride or a car to get from the airport to the drop zone/tunnel.

Lodging:
The Comfort Inn on Highway 74 at the 210 Freeway is the nearest commercial lodging. Lodging is also available at the drop zone in the IHOP (the International House of Parachutists) or the Bunk House. Please contact the drop zone directly to make these arrangements (909-657-3904).

Equipment:
You will need a relative work jumpsuit, preferably with booties; a helmet, preferably full-face. Please be aware that tunnel flight is intensive and does tax your equipment. We ask that if your helmet has Velcro please ensure that the Velcro is fresh and operates properly. Many frequent tunnel flyers arrange to add a snap to their helmet. The loft at Perris Valley Skydiving can add a snap quickly for approximately $20.00. Most people are more comfortable wearing gloves in the tunnel, and closed shoes are required, no bare feet or sandals will be allowed. Please make sure all of your equipment is in good condition.

Video:
Coaches will use a digital dubbing system to debrief your individual tunnel flight sessions. However, your video will likely record the entire camp. We recommend that campers bring enough video tape time to record an entire camp (for example, 20 hours of video time).
